How To Use This Tool

Purpose

The Callback Seed Planter helps you intentionally plant small details, phrases, objects, or character habits early so they can return later as callbacks, tags, running jokes, or closing punchlines.

When To Use It

Use this tool when a story has a funny ending but needs stronger setup, when you want a detail to pay off later, or when your bit needs a callback that feels earned instead of stapled on with duct tape.

How To Use It

  1. Enter the main topic or premise.
  2. Choose a recurring character.
  3. Add a funny object, detail, phrase, or image.
  4. Choose the comedy tone.
  5. Enter a possible ending or final payoff.
  6. Click Plant Callback Seeds.
  7. Use the seed line, middle reminder, late callback, and final button to tighten the bit.

Example Input

Main Topic: Grandpa bought a suspicious tractor at an auction.
Seed Detail: A glowing wrench in the glove box.
Possible Ending: The tractor was only haunted because Jimbo left his phone in the glove box.

Example Output

The tool suggests where to plant the detail early, how to remind the audience in the middle, and how to bring it back near the end for a stronger payoff.

Comedy Tip

A good callback seed should be simple enough for the audience to remember. If they forgot it, you buried the seed too deep.

Comedy rule: If the audience remembers it, you can call it back. If they forgot it, you buried the seed too deep.
